Covid booster shots will be available to all US adults in September
Coronavirus booster shots of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available to all American adults beginning in September, the nation’s leading health officials have announced.
The booster shots will be offered beginning the week of September 20 to Americans, eight months after their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna jab.
‘We know that even highly effective vaccines become less effective over time,’ Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy said during a White House briefing on Wednesday. ‘It is now our clinical judgment that the time to lay out a plan for Covid boosters is now.’
Murthy continued: ‘This includes our most vulnerable populations, like our health care providers, nursing home residents and other seniors. We will also begin delivering booster shots directly to residents of long-term care facilities.’
