Cops describe horrific moment they dug up 'cult mom' Lori Vallow's children
Police described the horrific moment they dug up ‘cult mom’ Lori Vallow’s children in a pet cemetery her husband’s property.
Officers recounted unearthing the bodies of 7-year-old JJ Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan in June in Salem, Ohio during the first day of Chad Dabell’s preliminary hearing on Monday.
Both Daybell and Vallow are facing charges related to the hiding of the children’s remains, although authorities have yet to announce how the children died or whether murder charges will be filed in the case.
Rexburg Detective Ray Hermosillo testified about the discovery of the bodies while officers conducted a search warrant on Daybell’s property on June 9.
Investigators found the bodies after they examined a suspicious mound of freshly laid sod with three white stones lined up near it, Hermosillo said.
‘(JJ’s) head had a white plastic bag over the top of it,’ Hermosillo said.
‘There was duct tape that was tightly wrapped around from his chin to his forhead area. Several layers of duct tape, tightly wrapped…(There was) an additional piece of duct tape that was stretched from jawline to jawline across the mouth.’
Hermosillo said investigators also discovered burnt remains in a plastic bucket, as well as a partial skull fragment in a pet cemetery on the property, which were later identified as Tylee’s remains.
According to Hermosillo, JJ’s body was in a ‘shallow’ grave in the pet cemetery near a statue of a dog. He added that a white and blue blanket had been placed on top of the body.

The discovery of the children’s bodies was the latest guresime twist in the case that began when the children went missing in September.
Vallow and Daybell reportedly refused to help police in their search for the children and the pair failed to produce them to authorities after a judge ordered them to.
The couple then disappeared, but they were eventually discovered to be living in Hawaii in January before they were taken back to Idaho on criminal charges.
Both Vallow and Daybell are being held on $1 million bail and they have both insisted they are innocent.
