Carers encouraged dementia patients to brawl at ‘fight club’ residential home

Three health workers allegedly encouraged dementia patients to scrap with each other as part of a care home 'fight club'.

Marilyn Latish McKey, 32, Tonacia Yvonne Tyson, 20, and Taneshia Deshawn Jordan, 26, of North Carolina, US, have been accused of running the 'club' and also assaulting two elderly women.

The trio filmed two dementia patients fighting in a 'special care unit' at Danby House, it is claimed.

One of the residents can be heard screaming 'let go, help me, help me, let go' in the footage, court documents say.

During the video, one of the employees says 'stop screaming, (expletive)', while someone else urges one of the patients to punch the other in the face, reports state.

The footage involves two female patients, aged 70 and 73, with one pushing the other onto a bed and strangling her, according to Yahoo News .

Police have seized multiple videos of the carers' alleged exploits, some of which have reportedly been uploaded to social media.

Affinity Living LLC, which owns Danby House, fired the trio in June.

A spokesman for the company told the Winston-Salem Journal: "Administrators have been working closely with the Winston-Salem Police Department throughout its investigation to ensure justice is served.

"Additional staff training and a more rigorous vetting process for all new and existing employees at Danby House has been implemented.
