If you bought a lawnmower in Canada between 1994 and 2012, you could be entitled to some lawsuit money.

A class-action lawsuit against a handful of major lawnmower companies has been settled. The suit alleges the companies mislabelled their products to show a higher horsepower rating than what was actually in the lawnmower.

Now $7.5 million is set to be distributed to anyone who purchased certain gas-powered lawnmowers between Jan. 1, 1994 and Dec. 31, 2012.

Canadians can make a claim if: you bought a gas-powered walk-behind or riding lawnmower designed, manufactured or labelled by any of the eight companies, which has an engine labelled at 30 horsepower or less.

The companies include: Briggs & Stratton, Electrolux, Honda, Husqvarna, John Deere, Kawasaki, Kohler, MTD, Tecumseh and Toro. For a full list of the lawnmower branks, click here.

Canadians wanting to apply for a settlement payment, which ranges from $15 to $55, have until May 22 and can apply online.
