Boy who ran off in blizzard after arguing with parents about phone is found dead

A 13-year-old boy has been found dead five days after running away from home in an Arctic blizzard following a row with his parents.

Corey Brown was angry after his parents took his phone away as punishment last week.

The teenager , from Iowa, US, disappeared and a huge search operation involving 14 agencies was launched.

But tragically, on Sunday morning, the youngster’s body was discovered in a remote location west of Marshalltown.

Temperatures in the area have recently plunged to -24C overnight, and barely exceeded freezing in the daytime.

A spokesman for Marshalltown Police Department said: "At this time, there is no evidence or information that indicates criminal activity is connected to this missing person/death investigation.

"However, this is still an active investigation and all possible scenarios will be thoroughly investigated."

Corey’s devastated family, from Marshalltown, thanked the emergency services for their support.

The community’s School District said: "Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the Brown family and those close to Corey.

"He was loved by many and will be deeply missed."

The boy was told off last week and had his phone taken at home. It’s unclear what led to the argument.

Speaking at a press conference amid the desperate search, the teen’s panicked mum said: "Corey, you know how much we love you. And I’m not going to stop until we find you. If you’re out there, please come home.

"We love you more than you’ll ever know. Please, please just come home."
