Boy, 16, dies after being shot in the head ‘while playing with gun’
A teenage boy was killed when he was shot in the head while playing with a loaded gun , it has been reported.
The tragic incident took place in Spring, an area of northwest Houston, at 1am on Tuesday morning.
Harris County Sheriff's Office say two teenage boys, both aged 16, were playing at a home when the gun went off.
The injured boy was then rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.
Homicide detectives are now investigating the incident which is initially thought to be accidental.
It is unclear if the boys were being supervised at home when the tragedy occurred.
Earlier this year, a six-year-old girl was accidentally shot dead by her 12-year-old brother while their parents were at a Christmas party.
Police arrived at the scene at 11pm on Friday evening but the young girl – identified as Maliyah Palmer – tragically died in hospital, it is reported.
She had been left at her Missouri family home with her older brother and 16-year-old sister, Yahoo reports.
But the brother allegedly found a 9mm handgun in one of his parents' drawers before the tragic accident occured.
He accidentally shot his little sister in the head, it was reported.
A police chief said: "You couldn’t have written a more tragic script, the whole thing is just so tragic and terrible, but we have to put our personal feelings aside and do the law enforcement side of this."
