Anti-Semitic vandalism at Toronto school a ‘disgusting crime,’ Jewish group says

Toronto police are investigating after anti-Semitic graffiti was found spray-painted on the side of a high school near High Park on Thursday.

At around 10:30 a.m., police said, officers attended Western Tech High School, in the area of Keele Street and Bloor Street West, after receiving a call from a custodian at the school about offensive graffiti.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) expressed concern over this incident.

“It is disturbing to see another act of hateful vandalism in our city. This is [a] particularly egregious example, given the explicit pro-Nazi, anti-Semitic, racist and homophobic content,” said Noah Shack, GTA Vice President of CIJA.

Shari Schwartz-Maltz of the Toronto District School (TDSB) said she heard about the vandalism through a community member.

She said the graffiti was scrubbed since.

A Toronto police representative told Global News investigators are looking for surveillance video of the vandalism.

Investigators have no suspects at this time.

“We encourage any community members who may have information about this disgusting crime to contact Toronto Police Services without delay,” said Shack.
