Airbnb host ‘secretly took 2,000 videos of guests having sex on hidden camera'

An Airbnb host allegedly recorded more than 2,000 videos and images of guests at his cabin naked and having sex from a camera disguised as a Wi-Fi router.

A couple staying at the Comfort, Texas, cabin hosted by A Jay Allee, 54, found the hidden camera inside one of the rooms last July. The camera was set up to look like a power adaptor for a Wi-Fi router, according to police.

It was discovered by a man as a woman was showering, an arrest warrant affidavit states. He claimed it was facing the bed. The couple felt uncomfortable when Allee allegedly told them to watch the sunrise nude or in pajamas, according to the affidavit.

The guest apparently looked through the cabin to see if anything appeared out of the ordinary and searched the internet for how to spot hidden devices.

An investigation by Kendall County police found that Allee had allegedly recorded guests for at least a year, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Cops seized the camera attached to a router and also took laptops, a tablet and phones. Additionally, police recovered at least 2,100 thumbnail images of men and women in the cabin with some of them naked, half-dressed and partaking in sexual acts.

‘It’s a real-life scary movie,’ said Bianca Zuniga-Goldwater, the lawyer representing 17 people who stayed at the Airbnb.

Allee was arrested in November and charged with four counts of invasive visual recording. He now faces 15 counts with lawsuits accusing him of invasion of privacy and causing emotional distress intentionally.

Nico LaHood, one of Allee’s lawyers, insists his client is innocent.

‘He is looking forward to his day in court,’ LaHood said.

Meanwhile, Airbnb said its platform strictly bans hidden cameras.

‘The reported criminal behavior of this bed-and-breakfast owner is outrageous, and he and his property are banned from Airbnb,’ the vacation rental company told KSAT. ‘Our law enforcement operations team has been working to support the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation.’
