Some locals say that the trust administering land is abusing its power by charging people rent.

Days before South Africa’s elections, there has been contentious debate about land ownership.

The government is planning amend the constitution to allow the expropriation of land without compensation and, while most of the land is owned by the minority white population, the new policies could affect tribal land.
