HK airport says it has injunction to stop protesters obstructing operations

HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong’s Airport Authority said on Wednesday it had obtained an interim injunction to restrain people from “unlawfully and wilfully obstructing” the operations of the city’s international airport after another night of disruption by protesters.

“Persons are also restrained from attending or participating in any demonstration or protest or public order event in the airport other than in the area designated by the airport authority,” it said.

The Fort Rouge riding was re-established in 1999 after being first created by redistribution in 1957 and eliminated in 1989. The riding has been held by the NDP since it’s recreation in 1999. It was held by both the Progressive Conservatives and the Liberals from 1958 and 1990 with the exception of several years of NDP control between 1981 and 1988.

Quick take

La Verendrye flip-flopped between the Liberals and the Conservatives until the 1970s when the Conservatives held it for three decades, until it was won by the NDP in 1999. Boundary changes in 2008 helped shift demographics back to the conservatives in 2011.

Quick take

Voters in River Heights have gone back and forth between Liberal and Progressive Conservative candidates since the riding saw it’s first election in 1958. The Tories held the seat from that first election until 1986 when former Liberal leader Sharon Carstairs took the seat in 1986. The riding went back to the PCs for a term in 1995 and has been Liberal ever since.

The riding of Fort Garry has been re-created for the 2019 election. It had existed from 1958 to 2011. The riding has historically been considered a safe seat for the Progressive Conservatives, but did go Liberal in the 1988 election and was held by the NDP from 2003 to 2011.

The Fort Whyte riding was created from scratch in 1999 out of parts of Tuxedo, Fort Garry, and St. Norbert because of population growth in southwest Winnipeg. The riding has consistently elected Progressive Conservative MLAs, including premier Brian Pallister, who was elected in 2012.
