Woman had cousin kill her ex after argument at restaurant: cops

A Connecticut woman convinced her cousin to kill her ex-husband after an argument at a restaurant during which she foreshadowed his demise — telling him, “You are going to take your last breaths tonight,” witnesses told police.

Larise King, 35, of Bridgeport, appeared in court Monday on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and criminal liability for the acts of another for the July 27 killing of Dathan “Dae Dae” Gray, 32, who was shot five times after King and a friend argued with the father of three at a restaurant, the Connecticut Post reports.

“You are going to take your last breaths tonight,” King told Gray as she left, witnesses told cops.

A few hours later, Gray was shot outside his Bridgeport home after two men in hooded sweatshirts walked up and opened fire. Police said a witness nearby tried to alert Gray, pointing out that the unidentified assailants were approaching him, but Gray ignored the warning and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

“It was a shocker,” neighbor Ervin Kenio told News 12 Connecticut of the slaying. “I was really shocked. I’m glad that justice is being served.”

The suspected shooters walked to Gray’s home after exiting a white SUV and later returned to the vehicle, where a woman matching King’s description was spotted in the backseat, police said.

King later told detectives that she was home at the time, but investigators said her cellphone indicated she had actually been near Gray’s home when her ex-husband was shot.

King, who surrendered to police on Saturday, appeared in court Monday for her arraignment. A judge set her bond at $1 million after a prosecutor noted the seriousness of the charges she faces, the Connecticut Post reports.

King appeared to shift from one foot to another during the tense hearing, according to the newspaper.

“That’s my daughter,” King’s father yelled as she entered the courtroom.

“[Expletive] your daughter,” someone from across the court aisle replied.
