US embassy in Iraq targeted by missiles as four rockets land nearby

Four rockets have reportedly landed near to the US embassy in Baghdad’s Green Zone with it unclear whether there have been any casualties.

The rockets, with some reports that five were fired, went close to the US embassy on Sunday with warning facilities activated.

People have been told to seek shelter.

BBC journalist Nafiseh Kohnavard tweeted: “We are still advised to take cover in Union 111, just across the road from the US embassy in Green Zone #Baghdad.

“A few rockets allegedly hit nearby.

“I didn’t hear any explosions as were in hard cover.”
