Two injured after Boots sign falls on them outside Chingford store in East London

TWO people have been rushed to hospital tonight after a huge Boots sign fell on them in the street.

Witnesses described hearing screams and hero passers-by lifting the illuminated sign off an injured woman and an unconscious man in Chingford, East London.

The victims are believed to be chemist workers closing up the store when the illuminated shop sign crashed to the ground.

A witness wrote: "I got off the bus and heard one big bang.
"I ran across the road and the sign fell on two people.

"Everyone had to lift it off them and the was one was out (unconscious)."

SCREAMS AS MAN AND WOMAN TRAPPED

Emergency services raced to the scene following the incident at about 6.10pm.

Photos show the huge sign crashed on the pavement next to a Poundland shop.

Metropolitan Police confirmed two people have been taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not known at this stage.


 

In February a woman suffered head injuries after a 40ft-long Sainsbury's sign fell on her outside a store in Swansea.

The illuminated shop sign crashed 15ft to the ground and hit the woman on the head on the way down.
