Two people have been killed after a speeding red Porsche Boxster crashed and flew into the second floor of a commercial building in New Jersey on Sunday morning.

Braden DeMartin, 22, was driving the $50,000 car that hit a center median, struck an embankment and lurched into the building, killing himself and friend Daniel Foley, 23.

The sports car rammed into the second floor wall, more than 15 feet above ground, of the unoccupied Exit Realty building in Toms River.

The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed as it headed northbound on Hooper Avenue, then lost control around 6.30am.

Photos of the 2010 Porsche Boxster show the severe damage it sustained in the crash, its rear completely crushed and mangled.

Skid marks were visible across the four lanes of the road leading up to the building.

After the crash Toms River building inspector, John Gerrity, deemed the building structurally unsafe.

However authorities managed to extract the vehicle.

The building houses four businesses, including a counseling service and a real estate company

The crash took place just after 6.30am Sunday morning where the sports car flew into the second floor wall, more than 15 feet above ground, of the Exit Realty building on Hooper Avenue in Toms River

On Facebook Sunday, a friend shared an image of the pair along with the caption: ‘RIP Braden DeMartin and Dan Foley. Will never forget the days we spent on the golf course together. Always made everything more fun.’

Another friend posted: ‘I can’t believe it another 2 of my childhood friends gone bro I remember when we used to scooter and bike at the incline club and had no problems or worries I never saw this coming bro.

‘I might not have been your best friend or anything but I do remember the good times we had as kids Rest In Peace and god bless your families.’

Foley’s girlfriend posted on Facebook: ‘I loved you with every atom and molecule that make up my body. I will always love you. Our relationship was one of the greatest love stories I will remember. Thank you for being in my life and thank you for showing me how much I could love someone.’

She continued: ‘Although we went out separate ways a little bit ago I will always be grateful for you, for the laughs and lessons we had, for every touch we shared and I will always love you.

‘I’m sick to my stomach writing this and I wish this was all just a bad dream. I’m speechless and I wish I had more to say, I do but I can’t seem to put the right ones together. Praying for your family. I wish I could have seen you one last time. I wish this wasn’t real. Rest softly and peacefully sweet boy.’

Foley was an electrician according to his Facebook profile.

It’s unclear who owned the car but Foley posted online that he was selling car parts – 13″ 2000 Mustang Cobra R rotors and a Cobra hood – in July.

The starting price for a Porsche Boxster is $48,000 but the S model’s recommended retail price is $59,000 and for an additional $3,500 buyers can add a PDK transmission which combines two gearboxes in one and increases the speed.

The building that houses Exit Realty also services three other businesses.

Firefighters from Brick, Laurelton Fire Company, Silverton Fire Company and the Toms River Fire Department attended the scene.

Police say there were no witnesses of the crash.

The area between Indian Hill Road and College Drive was shut down for seven hours and authorities are still investigating the accident.
