Tory Party suspends members over anti-Muslim comments on Facebook

Conservative party bosses have been forced to act after another 25 Facebook users who claimed to be Tories posted anti-Muslim comments.

The party said it had suspended those who were found to be members after the comments appeared on a ‘Jacob Rees-Mogg Supporters Group’ Facebook page. 

Other comments were made by those who declared themselves as members. The party has now handed out more than 40 suspensions over allegations of race-hate abuse.


A woman who declared on the page that she was a Conservative member wrote: ‘No Muslim will get my vote’. Another user shared a Facebook post from the British National Party asking for donations to ‘stand against the Islamification of our country’ [File photo]

One man who identified as a Conservative posted a comment about killing Muslims, BuzzFeed News reported. 

‘I was going through a few magazines the other day down at the local Mosque. I was really enjoying myself. Then the rifle jammed,’ he wrote.
