Tragic teen Keane Mulready-Woods fought desperately for his life as his Narcos-style killers savagely hacked him to death.

Police sources understand two psychotic butchers chopped off his fingertips and thumbs before dumping his severed legs and arms in a holdall.

They believe one of the main suspects 'have defensive-type wounds' as the teen battled desperately for his life.

It's part of a ongoing gangland feud, with one person shot dead and another injured during a brutal attack near Dublin airport today.

Days before a hitman and his sidekick abducted 17-year-old Keane, stabbing him to death, before chopping up his body – and putting it in bags.

Sources said this was to remove any potential DNA from the killers under his finger nails to help them evade prosecution, report the Irish Mirror.

A source said: “It’s believed an attempt was made to thwart Gardai (Irish police) getting any DNA from Keane’s limbs by removing his fingertips.

“One of the two main suspects is understood to have defensive-type wounds. The belief is he and the other killer removed the fingertips to protect themselves.”

The Gardai are probing reports of online videos and images of the horrific feud killing in Drogheda, Co Louth.

The clips were sent to Keane’s gang bosses to goad and intimidate them while police said they caused huge distress to the victim’s family.

But Chief Supt Christy Mangan said the footage was not of the teenager and he asked the public not to share the images.

He added: “They are frightening people. This is hindering the investigation and false reports are not helping.”

The Irish Mirror has learned that while the video is not that of Keane, Gardai have still not verified whether the images are of him.

A source said: “There are images of a torso and amputated legs but there is no evidence to say these are parts of Keane’s remains. For one thing, the torso has not yet been recovered.”

The teenager was stabbed and dismembered sometime on Sunday evening.

His arms and legs were dumped in a sports holdall on the Moatview estate in Coolock, North Dublin, on Monday night.

The following evening, his head and hands were discovered in a burning car in Drumcondra. The torso is still missing.

A senior source said: “This was nothing short of barbaric. A completely depraved act.

“Keane’s body parts were dumped in Coolock as a message to their enemies. It’s like something out of the Netflix
show Narcos.”

Detectives are checking with Keane’s family and friends from the Beechwood area of Drogheda in a bid to trace his last movements.

A huge manhunt is under way for the drug devils who abducted, tortured and slaughtered him.

Keane’s murder, which has shocked the country and made headlines across Europe, is yet another killing in the bloody feud between two gangs.

The main suspect is a notorious gunman recently released from prison who had close links to Richie Carberry, 39, gunned down in Bettystown, Co Meath, in November.

Gardai are also hunting a man who was a passenger when an innocent cabbie was shot on the Bridge Of Peace in Drogheda on Monday night.

A source said the target, who was out on bail, was lucky to escape when the hitman’s gun jammed after the taxi driver was shot. A house in Rathmullen Park is still sealed off as forensic specialists continue a detailed examination.

Detectives have found blood stains and evidence that an effort was made to clean it up, repainting and reflooring it.

Officers believe it could be the location where Keane was brutally murdered.

It’s understood the victim’s bloody slaying sparked the botched revenge hit on the taxi passenger.

The two main suspects are involved in bloody war with a rival gang in Drogheda and an outfit run by a Mr Big in Coolock.

On Monday, the killers were on the way to the rival’s house in Coolock to dump the body parts in his garden but panicked when gardai probing a robbery arrived.

Detectives carrying out searches seized a high powered-machine gun capable of firing hundreds of rounds a minute.

Chief Supt Mangan is awaiting the results of DNA tests on the remains in the burning car – but they are expected to be confirmed as those of Keane.

Commissioner Drew Harris visited Drogheda and Coolock Garda stations and promised all resources needed.

A source said the top cop and hardened detectives were taken aback by the barbarity of the killing. They added: “The Commissioner told senior officers it was like something out of a Netflix show.”

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan appealed for help to “put these people out of business and behind bars.”

Gardai are gathering information and intelligence on what happened to Keane since he was last seen at Dominic’s Bridge at 6pm on Sunday.

He didn’t answer his phone or reply to messages after that time.

Detectives are looking for details on the movements of a blue Volvo S40 in which his head and torso were found.

They instead dumped the limbs on a street where kids found them.

A source said: ”They were also planning on keeping the head and torso to place on a pillar or pole also near their rivals but panicked once again and disposed of them in a burning car.”

It was stolen in Sandymount, South Dublin, in December and fitted with false number plates. Detectives are looking to establish its movements since then.

Meanwhile, a relative of the tragic teen said they want justice and urged anyone with information to contact Gardai.

Heartbroken cousin Kelly Mulready added: “Sickos. If anyone hears or sees anything please just send it to the guards – we want justice for our boy Keane.”
