A Glasgow taxi driver arguing with a young woman about payment held her by the wrist and wouldn’t let her go as she pleaded: ‘Let go of me.’

Moments later, footage shows the driver holding what appears to be a tyre wrench, causing the woman filming to scream: ‘He’s got a crowbar.’

The video was filmed on Friday night following a dispute over payment between the two young women and their driver.

A Glasgow taxi driver holds on to the hand of a young female passenger as they argue about payment of the fare

The footage was posted with the caption: ‘We were picked up and took to where we were going.

‘When about to leave the taxi and pay, the driver he grabbed me and wouldn’t let go of my arm, telling us that until we paid he wasn’t going to let go of me.

‘We had told him multiple times that we were trying to pay the fare.’

Before being removed from Facebook, the footage had been watched more than 200,000 times.

The footage begins with a woman sitting in a taxi as a taxi driver is holding on to her arm as she says: ‘Please let go of me.’

The woman filming the incident can be seen trying to free her friend and telling the driver: ‘Let go of her you mad weirdo.’

The passenger repeatedly says, ‘Let me go’, while the driver keeps on saying, ‘Are you going to pay?’

As the passenger filming gets out of the car and looks through the front window, she notices what looks like a tyre wrench in his hand

The driver says: ‘Are you going to pay?’ The woman being held replies: ‘Yes I’m going to pay, just please let go of me.’

The woman filming can then be heard saying: ‘Am no going to be getting any money unless you take your hands off my pal.’

At this point, the driver then seems to realise that he is being filmed and attempts to grab the camera.

The camerawoman then shouts, ‘You need to let go.’

Another person arrives on the scene saying: ‘Has he got his hands on her?’

The woman said she was left with red burn marks on her arm after the incident on Friday night

The woman then films from outside the cab and through the passenger window of the taxi, where the man can be seen holding a silver-coloured tool which strongly resembles a wrench used to change tyres.

The woman filming then yells: ‘He’s got a crowbar.’

He can be heard repeating: ‘Are you going to pay?’

He eventually lets go of the woman in the back and someone can be heard saying: ‘Nobody’s paying.’

A still picture, published together with the video, claims to shows red marks across the arm of the woman who was being held.
