Pub landlord accused of breaking Covid rules tells entire village to ‘f*** off’

A furious pub landlord has told his whole village to “**** off”, after someone reportedly told the police he had broken lockdown rules.

Keith Waterhouse, who owns the Badger’s Holt pub on Exmoor, left a furious note pinned to his village noticeboard after being visited by cops on two separate occasions, reports Devon Live.

The angry note, written all in capitals to express Keith’s total fury, said: “Whoever the nasty, vindictive b****** is that reports me to the police for a completely incorrect breach of Covid rules, have the ******** to talk to me first and find out the truth.

“And secondly, oh just **** off.

The uncompromising message was signed “Keith at the pub.”

Keith, who has run the pub with his wife for 15 years, explained the story behind his note to Devon Live: “We’ve had two occasions so far where police have been in contact,” he said.

“We’ve got a daughter who is a single parent and in our bubble. In August, she came to see us, and some nasty, vindictive person in the village rang up the police.

“Officers contacted me, and I explained that she was allowed to come here because she’s a single parent, and she’s allowed to do it."

“Now," Keith continued, "she’s back here to live at the moment, and again, she’s allowed to as a single parent with small children. It’s totally within the Covid-19 rules.

“Somebody here has contacted the police – +they have come all the way from Minehead to see me.

“I’ve spoken to them quite happily, telling them she’s allowed to be here, she’s now living here.”

“The note’s quite aggressive,” he added. “I don’t bother holding back or that sort of stuff.”

Police officers have told Keith that he is not breaching any rules. Under the UK Government's current coronavirus restrictions, somebody is allowed to form a support bubble with one other household if they are a single adult living with one or more children under the age of 18.

Keith said he didn't know who had reported him, but said he was keen to find out.

He continued: “I’ve not done anything to anybody, so I don’t know why they’re like that and why they have to make an attitude and do something like this.

“They should have asked what the situation is first; I’m here all the time, I’m happy to tell people what the situation is.

“But instead, someone has got in touch with the police; I don’t need this.”

Keith, a former parish councillor added: “I’m big enough to take this, I’ve been around a long time and I’m not going to put up with that.

“I have been through a lot of stuff in my life; these lot of bozos doing this are way below my grade as far as I’m concerned.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed officers attended Mr Waterhouse's home and that no offences were recorded.
