Prince Harry is "incredibly unhappy" according to a royal expert who claims the Duke is "hooked to a political activist".

Biographer Hugh Vickers said Harry, 35, was enticed by "beguiling" Meghan who "dazzled" the prince.

Speaking to the Express ahead of an appearance at Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival, Hugo said: "If you unwind it all you see an ambitious young woman who was a minor star, an actress who could dazzle him [Harry], and that's exactly what she did.

"He, no doubt, thought he had found himself a very exotic and glamorous wife out of the norm. Actresses can be very beguiling.

"Unfortunately, he finds himself now living in California, away from his family, friends, his work, and the Army, and all the things he had known.

"He looks incredibly unhappy and has been hooked by a political activist as far as I can see."

The biographer claimed that Harry "spouts rubbish" which "comes from her" and that the Duke "doesn’t really" believe it.

The couple announced in January this year that they would step back from senior positions in the Royal Family following talks at Sandringham between Harry, Prince Charles, Prince William and the Queen.

Meghan and Harry have since relocated with their son Archie Harrison to California, having spent the intervening period living in Canada, in hopes of a more private lifestyle.

In March the Duke and Duchess filed paperwork to register Archewell as an organisation.

The Sussexes quietly launched a website for their new venture this week.

Their planned official launch of the website for Archewell had been put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the landing page of the charitable organisation's website went live on Tuesday, October 20.

A statement released previously said: "Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of 'Arche' – the Greek word meaning 'source of action'.

"We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name.

"To do something of meaning, to do something that matters.

"Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon.

"We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right."
