Prince George ‘may not get birthday photograph’ over cruel online troll abuse

Prince George might not get an official picture released to mark his eighth birthday this week – because of recent online attacks following his appearance at the Euros 2020 final, a royal biographer has warned.

The young prince will turn eight next Thursday (July 22) but parents Prince William and Kate Middleton could break the tradition by not releasing an official portrait of George.

The rumour came after online attacks from trolls about George, who made an appearance at Wembley Stadium with his parents for the England vs Italy football game on Sunday.

Angela Levin, author of Harry: A Biography of a Prince, appeared on The Royal Beat programme on True Royalty and told the host: "There's also rumour though, that we might not see the photograph [of Prince George] when he's eight.

Do you think Will and Kate will release a new picture of George? Let us know in the comments.

"They have been so upset by the rudeness of people mocking a little boy aged seven, and I hope they can overcome that."

But Sunday Times royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah, who was also on the programme, disagreed with Angela.

She said: "I reckon they will put one out.

"This is an official duty for Prince George at the age of seven. It's lovely and happy and there's a lot of emotion.

"Getting him used to big crowds and knowing that he is being watched by millions of people – it's quite a clever way of doing it."

Earlier in the game on Sunday, Prince George won the hearts of the public after he was caught on camera celebrating England's goal.

The heart-melting moment brought happiness to Twitter and Facebook where royal fans shared their thoughts on the overjoyed little prince.

But George also received some negative attention on social media for wearing a suit and tie like his dad.

Some viewers commented on social media after the Sunday game, with one writing: "And this royal turnout is supposed to make Scotland want to stay in the union? Absolutely not."

"Why the sour faces is just a game," blasted a second.
