Police officer groomed ‘young girl’ for sex online not realising she was a cop

A police officer who thought he was exchanging explicit messages with a 12-year-old girl was in fact caught in an anti-paedophile sting operation.

Cheshire Police officer Bryn Majid sent a pornographic video showing an older man having sex with a young woman, instructions on who to perform sex acts and even a number of selfies that showed his penis while he was at work.

Majid, 59, used the name “Copper762” to talk to “Jess,” who he believed to be an underage girl, on messaging platform Kik.

Kyra Badman, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that Majid told “Jess” how to perform a sex act on herself, suggesting she try it.

Ms Badman told the court he also told the girl "I'm gonna send you a Kik pic of what I’m eventually going to put in u," reports the Liverpool Echo

She added: "He sent her a message saying she was ‘looking lovely’ and said he was ‘slightly older’ than her but nonetheless would she like to meet up one day.

"He said any meeting would be ‘their little secret'."

Maid went on to say that he'd like to see her and asked her to send pictures to his email address, saying he "would love to see her boobs".

On April 24, he even told the "girl" that he couldn't wait for lockdown to be lifted so he could meet her.

Ms Badman said: "He asked ‘Jess’ if she would tidy his house in her underwear or nude and that he would pay her."

It was then that he sent three images of himself with his penis exposed from Runcorn Police station, where he worked as a custody officer.

But the whole time the pervert, from Runcorn in Cheshire, was actually talking to another police officer working undercover.

Majid continued to send explicit messages and told the person he knew as Jess "he would make love to her" and even sent her a link to a porn video of a man in his 60s engaged in sexual activity with a girl aged between 16 and 20.

On May 1, police officers went to a house on Hale Road in Widnes where they seized a Dell laptop and an iPhone, discovering the images which included 24 of child rape.

Some of the images involved children as young as five or six, Liverpool Crown Court heard today.

In an interview on June 26 he admitted the images were his but said "he never had any intention to touch a child, that is was all part of an online fantasy that began in 2010".

Judge Denis Watson, QC, said he accepted the submission that there was never an intention to meet, although Majid admitted saying it.

The judge handed Majid a 20-month prison sentence and must sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which must run for 10 years.
