Photos of Greta Thunberg are used to shame Israeli workers

Photos of Greta Thunberg are used by Israeli company to shame workers into shunning plastic

  • Workers at offices in Israel will see pictures of Greta Thunberg glaring at them
  • Companies in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem want to discourage use of plastic cutlery
  • Some of the pictures are emblazoned with Thunberg’s ‘How dare you’ slogan

Pictures of Greta Thunberg have been set up at Israeli workplaces to shame employees into using less plastic.

Workers at a number of offices in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem will see pictures of the 16-year-old climate activist glaring back at them when they pick up disposable cups or cutlery.

Some of the pictures are emblazoned with the words ‘How dare you’ – Thunberg’s rallying cry in a memorable speech at the United Nations in September.

Message: The face of teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg glares at employees of this company in Israel who are thinking of using a plastic cup or disposable cutlery

Warning: A cut-out of the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist is displayed next to stacks of plastic cups at this workplace in Israel

In one case, a black-and-white photo of the Swedish teenager hangs above a supply of plastic spoons – hinting that workers should use the metal ones instead.

Another photo shows a much smaller Greta cut-out placed in a box of plastic spoons at the offices of Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Her face is also seen in front of a stack of plastic cups in another office, emblazoned with the words: ‘Are you sure?’.

At another workplace, one employee seems to have tried to cover up the message by placing a disposable cup over Thunberg’s face.

Thunberg tore into world leaders in her impassioned speech at the UN, accusing them of ‘stealing my dreams and my childhood with your empty words’.

Her angry glare at Donald Trump after he upstaged her by walking into the climate summit with his entourage also became a viral sensation.

Covered up: Thunberg is positioned next to a stack of cups here – but one employee seems to have taken steps to minimise the effect of the message

Death stare: Greta Thunberg’s glare at Donald Trump (above) as he upstaged her at the UN Climate Summit in September became an instant viral meme on social media

Trump, a climate change skeptic, sarcastically tweeted that she ‘seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future’.

Thunberg later adopted the description for her own Twitter profile.

The teenager sailed to North America on a racing yacht as she refuses to fly on polluting jet planes.

She was due to attend an environmental summit in Chile next month, but the conference has been moved to Madrid after violent protests in Santiago.

Her campaign began in August 2018 when she began skipping school once a week to stage solo protests outside Sweden’s parliament.

The protests quickly drew support and thousands of people have turned out at thee climate rallies she has attended in North America.
