Buckingham Palace would face an HR catastrophe for how it treated Meghan Markle if it was a normal workplace, a royal author has claimed.

And the writer claimed that the royal family have been "scarring" women for decades, reports Mirror Online.

Omid Scobie, a co-author of bombshell new biography Finding Freedom on Prince Harry and Meghan, gave the analysis as he spoke on a podcast.

He said: “It’s something we’ve definitely seen over the decades… women being married into the royal family and leaving scarred.

“If this were a business I’d really be investigating, perhaps by human resources, how this happened over and over again.”

His comments come after his book on Harry and Meghan’s sensational departure from the Firm finally hit the shelves.

Written with US royal reporter Carolyn Durand, Finding Freedom claims to offer an insight into life behind palace walls.

The author, who is considered as being "friendly" with the couple, accused the family of not being concerned enough about their mental health, The Mirror reports.

Scobie said: “Many of those times it fell on deaf ears or it didn’t seem to be taken seriously enough.”

Meghan and Harry have denied co-operating with the authors for the book.

A royal spokesman did not comment to the paper.

It comes after Prince Harry lashed out at social media for stoking a “crisis of hate” as he revealed he and Meghan planned to change it forever.

The 35-year-old Duke described the digital world as “unwell” as he penned a 1,400 word opinion piece for a US business magazine.

He wrote that weeks ago, he and Meghan, 39, had begun contacting big bosses of brands and organisations "we all use in our daily lives" as part of their first steps into redesigning social media.

Harry said he had issued a clear message – for them to reconsider their roles "in funding and supporting online platforms that have contributed to, stoked, and created the conditions for a crisis of hate, a crisis of health, and a crisis of truth."

Meghan and Harry effectively left the royal family on March 31.

The couple announced they would be “stepping back” from royal duties in January as they sought personal independence.

The Duke and Duchess have since settled down in Santa Barbara, California, having coughed up £11million for a plush nine-bedroom mansion.

Finding Freedom, which hit the shelves this week, claimed Harry believed William was “snobbish” over Meghan’s arrival to the family and, was angry when his older brother kept referring to her as “this girl”.

The book has also led experts to claim the couple have burned all bridges with the Royal Family, and will never return to frontline duties.

Meghan and Harry have insisted they were not involved with the publication of the book.
