Disgraced footballer Adam Johnson was ‘spotted’ today outside his father’s home for the first time since being jailed for grooming.

A man believed to be Johnson, 31, was pictured driving a black Land Rover outside the house in County Durham following his release from prison.

He drove away from the house for a short while before he returned, swapping places with his father Dave Johnson who took over driving the vehicle, a source said.

While in jail the ex-Sunderland star is reported to have bought property, registering it with relatives, in order to keep himself afloat following his release.

He is now reportedly afraid his teenage victim, who he was convicted of grooming in 2016, will seek damages and take what remains of the footballer’s fortune.

Johnson served just half of his six-year sentence behind bars after he was jailed for grooming, kissing and touching a 15-year-old fan.

The former England player remains on licence and, as part of his release conditions, is no longer be permitted to be alone with his daughter.

Earlier this week Johnson’s sister Faye was seen with ‘welcome home balloons’ amid reports she had planned a party for the disgraced footballer to celebrate his release from prison on Friday.

All of the football league clubs in the area of his home told the Mail they would not contemplate signing Johnson, who now faces an uphill battle to revive his career.

He was not issued with a criminal tag but is subject to strict licence conditions, which include keeping in touch with a supervisor and living permanently at his address.

He will not be permitted to take up work unless his supervisor approves it, and officers will examine any overseas travel plans before he is permitted to leave the UK.

Johnson will also have more stringent conditions under the terms of the sex offenders’ register, which he will sign for at least 15 years.
