This is the shocking moment a cyclist riding on the pavement smashes into a five-year-old boy, leaving him with facial injuries.

Little Freddie-Lee Simmons-Fletcher had been riding home with his three siblings, his mother and her friend, when he was hit by the rider – who was also knocked to the ground.

The youngster was rushed to hospital and new footage now shows the cyclist who knocked into him, fleeing the scene.

Dash-cam footage taken on Friday at around 3.15pm in north Hull shows Freddie-Lee being knocked over.

The youngster was left with cuts and bruises to his face after the incident on Greenwood Avenue, which has been described by his father as a ‘hit and run’.

Daniel Fletcher, 28, said: ‘I’m so angry as a parent about what happened and I can’t believe the man just rode off without helping. It’s a hit and run, no matter whether the accident happened with a car or bike and we’ve reported it to the police.

‘I want the man finding and punishing and I want him to explain how he could a five-year-old boy in a pool of blood like he did. It’s not fair what happened.

‘It’s lucky that Freddie didn’t end up in intensive care with what happened, as it could’ve been so much worse.’

A number of people rushed to Freddie’s aid including Anthony from 35 Taxis who saw it happen and family friend Amy Barnes who tried to shout at the youngster to avoid the impending crash and who helped to look after the other children once it had happened.

The dash-cam video was shared by Hull man Andy Wilson who was driving down Greenwood Avenue at the time of the collision.

The child’s mother, Rebecca Simmons-Costello, 26, says she shouted at the man who knocked him off his bike but that ‘he just picked up his bike and fled the scene’.

Describing his son’s injuries, Mr Fletcher said: ‘He had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance for treatment and now has two black eyes and is struggling to eat as he’s in so much pain with his face, which is really sore. His eyebrow had to be glued and he has a big cut from it under his left eye as well as bruising.

‘Freddie was so brave though even though he cried a lot over all the blood, and he’s been so brave since.

‘He’s so good on his bike as well and knows his road safety and has never had an accident before. The man should have seen all the school kids on bikes and slowed down, but he didn’t.’
