Man shot while walking dog in NYC dead nearly a month later

A man who was shot in the gut in broad daylight while walking his dog in Queens last month died from his injuries Tuesday — almost a month later, police and police sources said Wednesday.

George Rosa, 53, was walking his pooch by himself around 11:30 a.m. July 25 in Long Island City when he was shot once in the stomach, police said. He died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, police sources said.

He told cops who arrived on the scene that he had heard a “pop” and saw that he had been shot while on 40th Avenue near 22nd Street, police sources said. He also told cops he didn’t see the gunman or know where the shots had come from.

An ambulance took him to Elmhurst hospital, where he received surgery, police sources said. He died at the hospital.

There have been no arrests.
