Main suspect in sex offender and daughter double murder found dead in cupboard

A man suspected of murdering a convicted sex offender and his daughter was found dead in a cupboard nearly a month after he went missing.

Nathaniel Henry, 37, was last seen on December 5th 2017 and was wanted for the murders of Noel Brown, 69, and his 41-year-old daughter Marie.

Police believe Noel and Marie were strangled by Henry before being partially dismembered at home in Deptford, south-east London.

Noel was convicted of sexually abusing two young girls in 1999 and was released in early 2004.

Police said Henry was linked to the scene by forensic and had been named as a suspect.

Cops had scoured Burgess Park for Henry but on December 31st 2017 discovered his decomposing remains in an electoral cupboard beneath his flat.

Southwark Coroners Court heard Henry, of Peckham, South-East London, had locked himself in and taken an overdose of an over the counter drug.

The 37-year-old was reported missing a week after bodies of his alleged victims were discovered.

Friends of Henry, a youth mentor who had been suffering from depression, was a “dedicated dad-of-three” and a “pillar” of the local community.

Met Police DCI Simon Harding told Southwark Coroners Court: “He was lying down with a duvet covering his legs and wearing four layers of clothing.

“He had personal effects with him, including his phone, some food with a sell by date of December 6 and a pack of tablets.

“The door lock was shoved with tissues from the inside and the key was attached to a set of his own keys.

“He was last seen at 3pm on December 5th.

“He had sent a text message to a friend that day saying I’m going to be missing.

“There are reports he had not been eating and had lost weight.

“He was taking antidepressants and was registered at a South London mental health trust.”

Emergency services pronounced Henry dead at the scene at 11.25 on December 31.

Senior Coroner Andrew Harris said: “He was known to be stressed and suffering insomnia and depression before his death.

“An autopsy was conducted and reviewed by a forensic pathologist, who concluded that there was no natural disease or injury found.

“The police concluded that the death was non suspicious.

“Tissue and vitreous humour toxicology confirmed that the death was due to diphenhydramine toxicity.”

Police confirmed there were no further lines of enquiry into the murders of Noel and Marie Brown.
