Dead paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein threatened one of the world's richest men over an alleged affair with a Russian bridge player, it has been reported.

According to a source speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Epstein made threats to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates over an alleged affair with the woman, then in her 20s.

The affair is said to have happened in 2010 when the pair met, but then Epstein reportedly met her three years later and paid for the woman to go to a software coding school in 2013.

Bizarrely, five years later, Epstein allegedly emailed Gates trying to get him to pay him back for the cost of the coding school while appearing to threaten to make the details of the supposed affair public if he didn't comply.

It has not been divulged whether or not Gates complied with the alleged request.

The pair are known to have met on several occasions, a fact Bill Gates has never denied, however the alleged affair with the anonymous woman has never been made public.

A spokesman for Gates told the WSJ: “Mr Gates met with Epstein solely for philanthropic purposes.

“Having failed repeatedly to draw Mr Gates beyond these matters, Epstein tried unsuccessfully to leverage a past relationship to threaten Mr. Gates.”

Gates announced in 2013 that he was getting divorced from wife Melinda after 27 years of marriage.

The pair, although split up, continue to work together on philanthropic efforts via their organisation the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

At the time, he said: “I certainly made mistakes, and I take responsibility.

“The divorce is definitely a sad thing.

“I have responsibility for causing a lot of pain to my family.

“It was a tough year (but) I feel good that all of us are moving forward now.”

Gates is worth around £110billion, and left his role at Microsoft in 2008.
