Essex Police arrest man after deadly crash outside school that left boy, 12 dead

Essex Police said a man had been apprehended following raids in the county after a 12-year-old boy was killed in a crash outside a school on Monday.

The statement said the man was apprehended on suspicion of murder after a "deliberate" hit-and-run.

A spokesman for the force said: "A man has been arrested following a fatal collision in Loughton earlier today, Monday December 2.

"The 51-year-old, from Loughton, was arrested on suspicion of murder, six offences of attempted murder, one offence of causing death by dangerous driving, six offences of causing serious injury by driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving without insurance.

"There is no wider threat to the public at this time, but we continue to ask anyone with information to come forward and assist with our enquiries."

The arrest comes after fatal collision in Willingly Road at about 3.20pm where the boy was killed and six others were injured.

Officers said the injured were two 15-year-old boys, a 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy and a 23-year-old woman.
