A Chinese dog owner on lockdown amid the coronavirus epidemic has found a novel way to walk his dog — dangling the pooch down from a first-floor balcony still on a leash, video shows.

The footage, shot in Qiqihar, showed a man on his balcony letting his pooch roam on the lawn while attached to the leash, Newsflare reported.

In the clip filmed by a neighbor, the man was then seen reeling his pet back up home.

The video comes as Chinese residents have opted, or been ordered by the government, to stay in their homes to protect themselves against the spread of the coronavirus.

The virus, officially known has COVID-19, has killed at least 2,004 people in mainland China and infected more than 74,000 others.
