Bronx teen grazed by bullet was not intended target: sources

The 13-year-old girl grazed by a bullet in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon was waiting for her boyfriend when she was struck by a stray bullet, according to police sources.

She told cops that she was waiting for her boyfriend on Seward Avenue near Noble Avenue in Soundview around 2:25 p.m. when two shots rang out and she realized she was hit, the sources said.

The teen was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

A witness told police a man from the nearby James Monroe Houses fired from the sidewalk toward people sitting on benches before taking off, according to the sources.

No one had been arrested in connection to the shooting by Thursday morning.
