Body of woman, 32, who vanished in Exeter a month ago is found

POLICE hunting a 32-year-old woman who vanished four weeks ago have found a body.

Lorraine Cox was last seen in Exeter city centre in the early hours of September 1.

A murder probe was launched a week later with Christopher Mayer, 22, charged with killing her.

Police have now confirmed Lorraine's body has been found in Exeter.

A statement Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Formal identification has now taken place in connection with the suspected murder of a woman from Exeter.

"It has now been confirmed that the body located in Exeter in September is that of Lorraine Cox, aged 32, from Exeter.

"The inquest into the death was opened and adjourned today by HM Coroner, Exeter while the criminal process into this matter continues."

MURDER PROBE

Lorraine's heartbroken family have been informed and are being supported by specialist liaison officers.

Five men, aged 22, 30, 33, 43 and 71, arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail.

A huge search for Lorraine was launched after she was reported as a missing person on September 3.

Police were seen scouring the city for clues with divers searching a section of river near the Mill on the Exe pub last week.

Lorraine's Facebook page was updated on September 2 to say she had moved to Plymouth.

The update was flooded with messages from worried pals urging her to get in touch – with some claiming someone had "got her phone".

Others expressed fears as Type 1 diabetic Lorraine left her medical kit at home when she vanished.

One wrote: "Get in touch with someone please".

Another said: "Is it her online? Or someone on her phone cant see her ignoring everyone when she knows they are worried about her".

While one concerned friend wrote: "Lorraine this is totally out of character insulin is the one most important drug to keep you alive just let someone know that you are safe privately and confidentially."
