Rapper charged in near-naked freeway stunt that snarled Los Angeles traffic for hours

Charges have been filed against a man accused of delaying rush hour traffic in Los Angeles last year with a near-naked spectacle.

Alexander Dunn, 30, was charged with five criminal counts — resisting an officer, causing a public nuisance, two counts of trespassing, and failure to abide by a peace officer’s instructions. Dunn is a rapper who calls himself “Dephree.”

Last June, Dunn allegedly scaled a highway sign, unveiled posters with messages like “Fight pollution, not each other,” and danced on the ledge. Eyewitnesses reported that he shouted “My name is Dephree, and I love God” on a megaphone.

His display, according to L.A. officials, was recorded for use in a music video.

The stunt resulted in a miles-long traffic jam and required two large yellow inflatables in order to get the man down from his freeway perch. Itended  when the man backflipped onto an inflatable. He was unharmed.

“This outrageous conduct required the intervention of precious emergency services to assure it ended safely, stopped traffic for nearly two hours and interfered with the lives and work of thousands of commuters,” said City Attorney Mike Feuer in a statement. “We will hold the defendant accountable for his reckless, selfish actions.”

Dunn’s arraignment is scheduled for the beginning of July in Los Angeles.

BNP Paribas sees U.S. rate cuts in July, September

NEW YORK (Reuters) – BNP Paribas analysts said on Thursday they expect the Federal Reserve would lower key U.S. lending rates twice this year, in July and September, prompted by increasing risks to growth from trade tensions and stubbornly low domestic inflation.

The Federal Open Market Committee, the central bank’s rate-setting group, is scheduled to meet June 18-19.

“We see the June meeting as setting the stage for a Fed cut by effectively shifting to a ready stance from a patient one,” they wrote in a research note.
