Baby dies after ‘dad left her alone for 10 hours while he worked to pay rent’

A father is facing a child neglect charge after leaving his young baby daughter alone in a crib for 10 hours as he worked to pay their rent, leading to her death.

Wilner Belizaire, 21, of Orlando, Florida arrived home late in the evening in December 2020 to find his four-month-old daughter Jazmyn had passed away.

The tragic passing happened as a result of the young father needing to work the long shift so he could cover his rent and keep a roof over his and his daughter's, local police have revealed.

American Belizaire was called in to work at around 4pm on December 22 and left his child alone in her crib, it was reported by WKMG on Friday.

He then returned to his home over 10 hours later to find Jazmyn dead in her crib.

The father has posted numerous pictures of his beloved daughter on Instagram, who was born last August.

He appeared to be a doting father, regularly posting updates of his child and how much he loved her.

One post was captioned: "I swear your the greatest gift I ever received" and another read "My life changed so much when you came into this world.. I’m a do everything I can to give you the best life I can."

Writing in a post on his IG story earlier today, distraught Wilner stated: "I just want to say thank you to everyone who's been supporting me through all of this,

"I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for your support and help."

According to a report, detailing the 21-year-old's arrest, Belizaire had actually attempted to get a babysitter for his daughter that day, but he couldn't find one.

He made the decision to go ahead with the work shift as he needed the money and was left in a difficult position.

The arrest report read: "As the suspect was leaving for work, he knew it was wrong to leave the decedent unattended for such a long period, but felt pressured to work because of impending rent being due."

Belizaire was taken in after calling the emergency services on December 23 to report that he had returned from work to find his baby daughter dead.

Reports state he was kept in over the festive period and was released on bail on January 4, 2021.

The child's age was not revealed in the statement nor has the cause of her death.

However, the report did state that the father had found Jazmyn on her stomach when he returned home.

He now faces one charge of neglect of child causing harm or disability, which could carry a sentence of up to 15 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
