Armed police called to serious stabbing and burnt out cars on residential street

A man suffered multiple serious stab injuries after trouble flared on a residential street.

Armed police, paramedics and the fire service were all called to the incident on Knowle Road, Sparkhill in Birmingham shortly after 11pm on Monday – October 26.

The stabbing victim was found in the road by West Midlands Ambulance Service workers after being knifed multiple times.

Near to the scene, at least three cars were set alight but it is unclear if the two incidents were linked.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the scene, with paramedics and the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car all attending.

A WMAS spokesman told BirminghamLive : "We were called at 11.07pm to reports of a stabbing on Knowle Road.

"One ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car attended.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, with multiple serious stab injuries. He was taken to hospital for further treatment.
A car was also found set alight at the scene."

A small police cordon remained in place on Tuesday restricting access to the burnt-out remains of three cars near the Mughal Azam restaurant.

One eyewitnesses who lives nearby said: "I was sleeping and I heard a big bang. It was a crash.

"There was a fire and we called 999 and they said they were already on their way.

"As soon as I came outside there was armed police, lots of police, an ambulance and two fire engines.

"They we’re treating a man down the road. They closed everything and asked me to go."

Another local resident said: "There were at least ten police cars.

"It was a really serious and worrying incident." Video captured at the scene last night show flames pouring from cars, with fire crews battling the blaze."

West Midlands Police is yet to release a statement.
