U.S. Transhumanist Party Leader Shares His Story of Excessive Police Force
U.S. Transhumanist Party leader shared his story of excessive police force, condemning its brutality and crowd violence.
United States Transhumanist Party Chairman Gennady Stolyarov II released a statement condemning police brutality and crowd violence, sharing his personal story of excessive force.
“In June 2009, I was peacefully exercising in the fitness center of my apartment complex at the time, when two police officers barged in with guns pointed at me, in response to an alarm triggered by an unknown individual, which summoned them automatically. This situation was the closest I had ever come to death and thus was the moment in my life where I as a transhumanist faced the greatest threat and the greatest injustice,” – Stolyarov said.
He managed to de-escalate the situation over the course of a minute during which guns were pointed at him. The next day Stolyarov learned from the apartment complex’s assistant manager that the police had treated him the same way.
“Sometimes I wonder what my fate would have been, had I lacked the presence of mind to cooperate, or had I looked different,” – added Stolyarov.
Motivated by this experience and recent events, the U.S. Transhumanist Party called for the acceleration of efforts to eradicate police brutality against civilians, unless they pose an imminent threat to human lives. The party expressed alarm at the troubling events in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which began with the tragic shooting on August 23 by police of Jacob Blake, and which was followed by the crowd violence and looting.
