Election results: What time will result come in your area?

Polls across the UK closed at 10pm on Thursday and voters are eagerly waiting for the results. An exit poll commission by the BBC, ITV and Sky News has predicted the Conservative Party will receive a majority of 86.

That means the Tories would gain 50 seats from the 2017 election, to have 368 MPs in Parliament.

In a massive blow to Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party is expected to lose 71 seats to have 191 MPs.

This result would be the biggest Conservative victory since 1987 and Labour’s worst result since 1935.

The exit poll is a way of forecasting what may happen in the general election, after voting ends but before the results are known.

In 1992 and 2015 the exit poll was wrong and predicted a hung Parliament whereas the actual result was an outright Conservative majority.
