Brexit should have been negotiated by TRUMP claims Farage – ‘We’d be in a better place’

Nigel Farage has said the UK would be in a “better place” if President Trump had been in charge of Brexit negotiations. Mr Trump arrived in the UK this morning with first lady Melania Trump for a three-day state visit and ahead of his arrival, the US President suggested Mr Farage “had a lot to offer” in negotiations with the EU and should be included in future talks. The news comes after Mr Farage’s Brexit Party came out top in the latest general election polls for the first time.

Speaking on his weekly LBC radio show, Mr Farage gave his backing to Mr Trump as a negotiator and said he wished the US leader had been in charge of Brexit.

He said: “If Donald Trump’s team had been in charge of these negotiations we would be in a much better place than we are.”

It has not been confirmed whether the Brexit Party leader will meet with the President during his three-day state visit.

Before arriving, Mr Trump said: “I have a very good relationship with Nigel Farage, with many people over there [in the UK] and we’ll see what happens.

“I may meet with him.

“They want to meet.

“We’ll see what happens.”

The Brexit Party has topped a general election voting poll for the very first time, according to a new survey.

The Opinium poll asked voters how they would cast their ballots at the next Westminster election, and 26 percent said they would back the Brexit Party.

Labour were second with 22 percent, with the Tories set to come in third with just 17 percent of the votes.

The Lib Dems are following closely behind on 16 percent and the Greens are on 11 percent according to the poll carried out for The Observer.

Opinium polled 2,005 people online from 28-30 May.

The results suggest eurosceptics will not abandon Mr Farage’s party at a general election after his triumphant victory in last week’s European elections.

The Brexit Party are also predicted to do well in the upcoming Peterborough by-election.

The vote will take place on Thursday June 6 and it looks as if the Brexit Party could clinch its first seat in Parliament, ousting the Labour opposition.

In the European elections Peterborough voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Brexit party, securing 16,106 votes – more than twice that of runners up Labour.

Labour’s 7,272 votes were closely followed by the Lib Dems’ 6,491 votes.

The Brexit Party’s success in the EU polls has made Mr Farage’s party the clear favourites to win the upcoming by-election with bookmakers Ladbrokes having them in front with odds of 1-5.
