Brexit Party vs Labour Party: Who will win CRUNCH EU elections in MAJOR SIGN to MAY

The European Elections will take place between May 23 and 26. Around 73 MEPs will represent the UK in the EU. But with Brexit chaos surrounding Prime Minister Theresa May, it seems many have lost faith in the ruling party and are turning their attentions to former UKIP leader Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party.

Who will EU elections?

A Yougov poll, commissioned by the People’s Vote Campaign for a second referendum, asked 1,855 adults in the UK who they were likely to vote for.

The results showed the Brexit Party got 27 percent of the vote.

This was ahead of Labour at 22 percent and the Conservatives trailed behind on 15 percent.

UKIP only received six percent of the vote.

YouGov carried out a second poll was carried out for the Times, which involved questioning 1,755 people between April 16 and 17.

This also showed the Brexit Party was ahead with 23 percent of the vote, while Labour was close behind on 22 percent, with the Conservatives third on 17 percent.

UKIP was last again with only six percent of voters saying they would vote for them.

Mr Farage tweeted his joy at the Brexit Party overtaking UKIP.

He wrote last week: “As UKIP launch their euro election campaign, they now have just three MEPs. The Brexit Party has 16.

“The lurch towards extremism has destroyed UKIP.

“There is a long way to go, but it is clear there is a desire to change politics for good.”

Tory Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg has said Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party has “moderated” British politics and taken votes away from Ukip.

He said to BBC Radio 4’s World At One: “I think the one really good thing about it (the Brexit Party) is that it has taken votes away from Ukip now Ukip is allied to Tommy Robinson.

“I think Tommy Robinson reflects a type of politics that, I think, is unattractive and not usual in Britain, and that therefore in that way the new Brexit Party has moderated British politics from an extremist route that we were in danger of going down.

“Am I sorry they’re taking votes from the Conservatives? Yes, of course I am – I would encourage all people at all times to vote Conservative in all elections.”

But Ukip leader Gerard Batten insisted his party is the “true” voice of Leave voters.
