Apple Announces Sept. 14 Launch Event

Tech giant Apple Inc. (AAPL) Tuesday announced that it will be holding its annual launch event on Tuesday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.

Like last year’s event, this year’s will be also held virtually with no media members invited to attend in person. The launch will be streamed on Apple’s website.

Apple, which usually unveils new iPhones in September, had launched the last year’s iPhone 12 in October, delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the September event, the company unveiled the Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, new iPads among other services.

However, as this year, things are back to normal, Apple is expected to launch its next-gen iPhone 13 models, the Apple Watch Series 7, and as well a new updated AirPods.

According to macrumors.com, the new iPhone 13? models will be similar to the iPhone 12 models with few design changes. Apple are also reportedly planning to release a 5.4-inch ?iPhone 13? mini, a 6.1-inch ?iPhone 13?, a 6.1-inch ?iPhone 13? Pro, and a 6.7-inch ?iPhone 13? Pro Max.

Spire Global To Acquire ExactEarth – Quick Facts

Spire Global, Inc. (SPIR) has agreed to acquire exactEarth Ltd. (XCT.TO) for approximately $161.2 million in a cash and stock deal. The consideration is comprised of approximately $103.4 million in cash and $57.8 million in Spire’s class A common Stock. On completion, the former shareholders of exactEarth will hold approximately 3.8% of Spire.

exactEarth is a provider of global maritime vessel data for ship tracking and maritime situational awareness solutions. exactEarth sells to 39 countries. Spire Global expects the acquisition to to be accretive on both a revenue basis and an adjusted EBITDA basis. The deal increases Spire’s customer base by over 75%.

Spire Global noted that the The directors, officers and certain shareholders of exactEarth, collectively holding approximately 60% of its outstanding common shares, have entered into voting support agreements.

ATyr Pharma Rally Continues On Positive Data From Clinical Trial Of Pulmonary Sarcoidosis

Shares of aTyr Pharma Inc. (LIFE) continued its rally on Tuesday, gaining nearly 30% in the morning trade, on top of the 50% increase recorded on Monday’s trading.

The clinical-stage biotherapeutics company’s stock growth was positively impacted by the positive data from a phase 1b/2a clinical trial demonstrating consistent dose response of ATYR1923 in pulmonary sarcoidosis.

LIFE is currently trading at $11.82, up $2.67 or 29.18%, on the Nasdaq. The stock had opened at $12.31, after closing previous day’s trading at $9.15. The stock has traded between $2.93 to $12.97 per share in the past 52-week period. The stock’s value has more than tripled in that time frame.

According to the company, ATYR1923 was safe and well-tolerated at all doses with no drug-related serious adverse events or signal of immunogenicity.

Pulmonary sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease characterized by the formulation of granulomas, clumps of inflammatory cells, in one or more organs of the body. Approximately 200,000 Americans live with pulmonary sarcoidosis.

European Economics Preview: UK Unemployment Data Due

Unemployment from the UK is due on Tuesday, headlining a light day for the European economic news.

At 2.00 am ET, the Office for National Statistics releases UK unemployment data. The jobless rate is forecast to fall to 4.6 percent in three months to July from 4.7 percent in three months to June.

In the meantime, industrial production from Romania is due.

At 2.30 am ET, Swiss producer price data is due for August. Prices had increased 3.3 percent annually in July.

At 3.00 am ET, Spain’s INE releases final consumer and harmonized consumer prices for August. Consumer price inflation is seen at 3.3 percent, unchanged from the flash estimate.

Also, July industrial production data is due from Hungary. Production had increased 8 percent in June.

At 3.30 am ET, Statistics Sweden is set to release consumer price data for August. Economists forecast inflation to rise to 1.7 percent in August from 1.4 percent in July.

Senate lawmakers are slated to grill Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler over the agency's oversight, including regulation over cryptocurrency markets, on Tuesday.

Gensler is expected to be asked about on bitcoin, stablecoins and other digital assets from senators on both sides of the political aisle.

"We just don't have enough investor protection in crypto finance, issuance, trading, or lending," Gensler said in prepared remarks. "Frankly, at this time, it's more like the Wild West or the old world of 'buyer beware' that existed before the securities laws were enacted. This asset class is rife with fraud, scams, and abuse in certain applications."
