‘Richmond are the team to beat’ in season 2019

They may have stumbled in season 2018, but Richmond are the team to beat this year.

That's the verdict on the Real Footy podcast as Michael Gleeson, Jake Niall, Caroline Wilson and Jimmy Bartel preview the season.

Though they're tipped as contenders, things aren't all necessarily rosy for the Tigers. The preliminary final loss to Collingwood wasn't necessarily an aberration, but the depth in the Tigers' side and the addition of Tom Lynch are big upsides.

The panel also talks upward movers and who might slide out of the eight. And there are indications that after an impressive finish to last season, the Demons might stall in 2019.

Also on the agenda: the rule changes in the AFL this year, how they'll work, and why players and coaches should have no problems with them.

Meanwhile, there will be coaches under huge pressure in 2019. We discuss who those coaches are, and make the case for the coach under the most heat.

Plus: he hasn't played in a while, but Gary Ablett snr's official goal tally has changed; we chat to AFLW players about the conference system, finals and the league best and fairest; and how many goals will it take to win the Coleman Medal this year?
