UK to get two more field hospitals to cope with coronavirus

The National Exhibition Centre (NEC) could be converted into a field hospital by mid-April, according to reports.

Manchester’s GMEX could also be used to treat coronavirus patients within the same timeframe, Sky News reported. The NEC could hold up to 5,000 beds if required to transform into a temporary hospital, while the GMEX could hold as many as 1,000.

Earlier this week it was announced that the ExCel Centre in London would become a temporary field hospital with 4,000 beds.
