Parents were told the Government expects full attendance at schools from September, as a raft of rule changes were announced.

However a webpage offering support for parents was unavailable, with a warning message explaining the outage.

It said: “The website is currently unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. We expect this to last about an hour. Please try again later.”
