Tory WARNING: Brexiteer MP pleads for ‘necessary’ Brexit Party alliance – ‘help us, Nigel’

The Tory MP revealed he had spoken to Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage about how he can help the Conservative Party to deliver on Brexit. Channel 4 News’ Matt Frei asked the Brexiteer MP: “Would you ever consider an alliance, a coalition with the Brexit Party in Parliament if they got elected?”

Nigel, you can either help us to deliver Brexit or you can destroy the Conservative Party

In response, the Tory MP for North West Leicestershire said: “We will see how they do at the European elections, they are probably going to do very well.

“I said to Nigel Farage next week, you have got a choice, Nigel, you can either help us to deliver Brexit or you can destroy the Conservative Party but you can’t do both. It’s up to you.”

Pushing for further clarification, Mr Frei said: “But do you think an alliance with him is a possibility?”

Mr Bridgen revealed he thinks an alliance with the Brexit Party “is probably a necessity”.

The European elections of May 23 are shaping up to be a watershed moment for the Conservative Party, as recent YouGov forecasts – based on a survey of 7,192 adults conducted May 8-9 – put the Government at 9 percent against the Brexit Party at 34 percent and the Lib Dems at 16 percent.

Tory grandee Michael Heseltine on Sunday announced plans to cast his vote in favour of his local Liberal Democrat candidate in the upcoming European elections.

Lord Heseltine, a committed Europhile and former deputy prime minister to Margaret Thatcher, said he could not back a party “myopically focused on forcing through the biggest act of economic self-harm” for Britain and will therefore back the anti-Brexit Lib Dem manifesto.

But Mr Bridgen said the former deputy prime minister is “clearly in breach” of Conservative Party rules.

He blasted the Remainer peer and said: “He is promoting another party in an election where there is a Conservative candidate standing.

“Ann Widdecombe announced she was standing for the Brexit Party and the next morning she receives the letter saying she is expelled from the Conservative Party.

“In consistency, surely Lord Heseltine should be out of the Conservative Party for breaking the party rules.”

Mr Bridgen insisted he will be writing to Conservative Party Chairman Brandon Lewis to “ensure that consistency” is upheld.
