Theresa May BANGS head on desk after Labour Brexit demand – ‘never seen anything like it’

Theresa May pulled the bizarre move during a one-on-one meeting with the Labour MP at her office in Number 10. The Prime Minister has been conducting cross-party talks with the Opposition to try to break the deadlock in Parliament over her proposed withdrawal agreement with the European Union. Dr Huq made the shocking revelation as she discussed the development of the Brexit talks with the British Government: “There was some bizarre meeting we had.

“It was a bit like the exchanges we have in the House but a bit more friendly. The first question I asked her was ‘what red lines have changed, Prime Minister?’

“And she kind of raised her eyes to heaven and then banged her head on the desk. I had never seen that before.”

She added: “I don’t think you would have had that at the dispatch box for sure.”

EU Chief negotiator Michel Barnier has hinted at a breakthrough in the talks, suggesting the confrontation could result in a softer Brexit than the one officially advocated by the Tory Party.

Mr Barnier stressed the cross-party negotiations could not change the 600-page withdrawal deal negotiated between the bloc and the British government: “This week will be very important. We will have the results of negotiations between the Labour Party and the Theresa May’s government. Are these talks going to yield something?

“The two parties agree that the deal we have is the only one possible. The deal we have reached is non-negotiable.

“Mrs May agrees, so too Jeremy Corbyn. What we could negotiate and improve, is the political declaration that defines our future relationship with Britain.”

Downing Street’s official spokesman James Slack confirmed talks between the Government and the Labour Party over Brexit will resume on Monday.

But, despite being on their fifth week of meetings, Labours and Tories still have to find a “way forward” on how to reach a compromise Brexit deal.

The spokesman also said the Government would like to move to the MPs’ attention the Withdrawal Agreement Bill as soon as possible but ministers need a realistic prospect the legislation will pass through Parliament.

The United Kingdom is to take part in the European parliamentary election on May 23 unless Theresa May succeeds in seeing her withdrawal agreement pass through the Commons by May 22.

Nigel Farage’s new party is predicted to dominate the upcoming European elections as voters desert the Tory party to support the Brexit Party.

A YouGov poll of 5,412 people conducted on behalf of Hope Not Hate saw the Tories down to 13 percent – 15 points behind the Brexit Party. Labour is currently on 22 percent while Remainers Change UK are tied with the Green Party on 10 points.

Senior Tories on Sunday appealed to MPs and activists to stay loyal to the party amid fears of an exodus to Mr Farage’s Brexit Party.

Nigel Evans, the joint executive-secretary of the 1922 Committee of Tory backbenchers, advised fellow MPs to avoid any “dalliances”.
