Sweden’s Royal Family shared a summery family photo with the world via their Instagram page. The image shows King Carl XVI Gustaf, 75, and Queen Silvia, 77, surrounded by their children, their children’s spouses and their grandchildren, as well as a couple of four-legged friends.

The caption accompanying the shot says: “Together on Öland again! A long-awaited reunion for the King.

“The family, which after a long time in different places can now once again gather on the ‘island of the sun and the winds’.

“A continued happy summer is wished to all.”

The picture was taken at Solliden Palace on Öland island where the family is enjoying some downtime for the summer.

Who is in the picture?

Top from left to right: Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Sofia, Prince Julian, Prince Carl Philip, Prince Gabriel, Princess Leonore, Prince Oscar, and Princess Adrienne.

Bottom from left to right: Rio, Princess Estelle, Prince Alexander, Brandy, King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Prince Daniel, Princess Madeleine, Chris O’Neill and Prince Nicolas.

The King and Queen’s dog, Brandy, and the Crown Princess Family’s dog, Rio, also feature.

The picture is particularly notable as it also introduces a new family member to the world.

Three-month-old Prince Julian is seen nestled in his mother Princess Sofia’s arms.

Her husband, Prince Carl Philip, stands behind his wife and next to his second son, Prince Gabriel, three.

Next to Sofia is Princess Victoria, dressed in an elegant ruffled white dress.

Up on the wooden cart, more of the grandchildren are perched – Princess Victoria’s five-year-old son, Prince Oscar, and Princess Madeleine’s daughters, Princess Leonore, seven, and Princess Adrienne, three.

Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, who are based in the US, are seen on the right-hand side of the photograph, alongside their son Prince Nicolas.

Behind the Queen is Princess Victoria’s husband, Prince Daniel.

And the monarchs’ granddaughter, Victoria and Daniel’s Princess Estelle, nine, is seen on a bale of hay with her cousin and Princess Sofia’s eldest son, five-year-old Prince Alexander.

The family, clearly thrilled to be together again, are expected to remain at Öland for much of the summer.

Princess Madeleine, the youngest of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s three children, resides in Florida with her husband, Chris O’Neill, and three children, Princesses Leonore and Adrienne and Prince Nicolas.

Due to travel restrictions put in place to combat Covid, the family was unable to travel back to Sweden in 2020.

Both Madeleine and her husband are vaccinated now, and the family travelled to Sweden earlier this month.

They are expected to stay for a significant amount of time before Leonore and Nicolas have to start school back this autumn.
