The Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly have no plans to meet with their estranged relatives the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their upcoming trip to the United States. Prince William and Kate are set to travel to Boston ahead of the annual awards ceremony for the Earthshot Prize, an environmental initiative founded by Prince William in 2019. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will also be attending an event on the East Coast, however the former ‘Fab Four’ are not tipped to reunite. Discussing the speculation surrounding the royal overseas trip, commentators have highlighted that the rumours of the Prince and Princess of Wales snubbing Prince Harry and Meghan are likely “much ado about nothing”.

Speaking of the frosty relationship between Prince William and Harry, Talk TV presenter Penny Smith said: “It actually is very sad that there are very few people in the world who can understand what they went through.

“They are royal, their mum died in horrible circumstances, they were young when they walked behind her coffin – there are so few people who know what they went through. To suddenly not be able to look over and talk about all those things – ”

Fellow Talk TV panellist JJ Anisiobi interjected: “Isn’t this much ado about nothing?”

He continued: “We said ‘just two hundred miles away’ – that’s a huge amount of space. It’s like if William and Kate were in London and Harry and Meghan flew to Brussels, we wouldn’t be saying, isn’t it weird they went to Brussels and didn’t go to London to see them.”

Prince William and Kate are scheduled to attend an array of events in Boston and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to accept an award in New York City.

While their respective engagements will place both the couples along the north east coast of the US, they will still be roughly 200 miles apart.

In light of the distance, Mr Anisiobi suggested too much weight had been attached to speculation of a possible reunion between the royal figures.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will be welcomed to Boston on Wednesday with a ceremony held at the city hall.

Ahead of the awards ceremony, Buckingham Palace has confirmed Prince William and Kate will visit Roca, a nonprofit organisation that supports high-risk young people by uniting the work of different public systems.

The 2022 Earthshot Prize ceremony will be held on Friday night where the royal couple will be joined by the 15 global finalists before the five winners of the environmental scheme are awarded.

In the days following the Earthshot Prize awards, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend a gala in New York City where they will receive the Ripple of Hope Award.

In October, the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organisation announced the couple would receive the award in recognition of their work on “racial justice, mental health and other social impact initiatives”.

Kerry Kennedy, President of the nonprofit and daughter of Robert F. Kennedy has reported the couple will receive the award for highlighting concerns of “structural racism” within the British monarchy.

In a press release, she said: “The couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world.”

Prince Harry and Meghan have previously condemned racist comments made by an unnamed member of the Royal Family during their groundbreaking 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
