Royal WORRY: ‘Fragile’ Meghan & Harry could head back to UK as Canada increasingly unsafe

Prince Harry, 35 and Meghan Markle, 38, have barely begun their new lives away from the Royal Family in Canada with their son, Archie, but already plans are being drawn up to bring them back to the UK if need be. The couple have headed abroad after a historic ‘divorce’ deal was agreed with the Queen, allowing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to retire as working royals and pursue their own ventures.

Meghan and Harry have been vocal about the pressures they face from media intrusion and the toll it’s taken on their wellbeing.

This new move was thought to be a chance for the young family to start fresh, but intrusion from the paparazzi is proving to me more worrying in Canada than expected.

Sources have said the couple are under severe strain, and believe The Firm will be able to better protect them back in the UK.

A well-placed source was reported in the Sunday Times, saying: “Everybody agrees that this is a fragile couple. Nobody is going to say, no they can’t come back.”

Some experts have pointed out Canada might not be the most private place for the couple, without the UK’s “gentleman’s agreement” between the Palace and the press protecting the royals from paparazzi intrusion.

Ingrid Seward, a royal biographer and editor of Majesty Magazine said: “Of course the safest place for Harry and Meghan to be is in the UK.

“They haven’t been papped once since their marriage, and if they have been, no pictures have been printed.

“Those rules don’t apply in Canada. The paps can come from all over the world and lie in wait for them.”

Those close to the royals seem to agree.

One source said: “The palace is very worried about the Sussexes, because they are vulnerable outside the embrace of the family.

“They are making contingency plans in case the Sussexes suddenly turn round and say: ‘Can we come back under your wing?’”

These contingency plans are said to include bringing the Sussexes back to their home at Frogmore Cottage, or perhaps setting them up at another well-cushioned royal residence.

Under the terms of the deal, the Sussexes will keep Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate as their British base, but will repay the £2.4m of taxpayers’ money used to renovate the property and will pay for its upkeep in future.

A source said: “You could bring them back to Frogmore to look after them.

“They wouldn’t return to royal duties, but they could have a period of rehabilitation and recuperation.

“You see the way it has disintegrated over there in the last few days.”

Prince Charles and Prince William are said to be reaching out to Harry, after a friend said Meghan found life in the Royal Family “soul-crushing”.

The source said: “They are trying to rebuild the relationship between Charles and Harry and indeed between William and Harry.

“They are phoning him and trying to talk to him and extending a friendly hand.”

The source added: “What is happening is that they are being told that there is love and affection on standby.”
