The Countess of Wessex visited the hub on Tuesday and was photographed kitted out in a bright green St John Ambulance T-shirt. Sophie is the Grand President of the service and she met and thanked all the vital volunteers for their incredible work during the coronavirus pandemic. The Royal family’s official Instagram page shared photos of the Countess helping to organise PPE shipments, that would be delivered to ambulance crews, specialist cleaners, hospital staff and first aiders.

The caption on Instagram read: “The Countess of Wessex, Grand President @stjohn_ambulance, today visited the charity’s Operational Support Hub to meet and thank volunteers for their work since the COVID-19 outbreak.”

“Volunteers at the Hub have been responsible for distributing clothing and PPE to 32 different St John Ambulance sites in the UK, where the charity is supporting the NHS on the frontline.”

“The Countess helped to organise these deliveries and PPE shipments to be sent to ambulance crews, specialist cleaners, hospital staff and first aiders.”

“Ahead of #StJohnsDay tomorrow, Her Royal Highness also paid tribute to everyone at the Hub and others working with St John Ambulance, who have contributed over 115,000 hours of voluntary service since the outbreak began.”

These photos impressed royal fans who were delighted to see the Countess’ contributions and commented sending their praise.

Some people took to Instagram to say: “She is simply amazing.”

“The Countess is just lovely!”

“Lovely lady and good heart.”

All of these volunteering efforts come after the 55-year-old teamed up with Southampton FC’s charity Saint Foundation to help deliver prescriptions and surplus food to those in need in and around Southampton.

Not the first time this lockdown that Royal’s have been working alongside footballers.

Prince William recently took part in a documentary with the BBC which involved him talking to former football players about their struggles with mental health.

The foundation that Sophie worked with, thank her by tweeting: “We were delighted to be joined by HRH the Countess of Wessex this week, who volunteered with us at @FareShareUK and on our prescription delivery service.

“A real privilege to shot The Royal Family how we are transforming lives in and around Southampton.”

The Royals have proven to be an effective force during the lockdown and have worked hard to try and comfort the nation during these turbulent times.

Both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been appearing on multiple Zoom calls from talking to those who could do with a friendly face to hosting their very own bingo game.

The Queen also pitched in during the middle of lockdown to address the nation and praise our spirit during a time of darkness.

She even quotes the late Dame Vera Lynn by saying: “feeling a painful sense of separation from their loved ones” to take comfort in the fact: “We will meet again.”

2020 seemed like a challenging year for the Royals, having just dealt with the Epstein scandal and losing Harry and Meghan to the states many have started questioning their purpose.

However, it seems as though the world most famous family has been impressing the public with their philanthropic spirit during the pandemic.

And despite themselves being separated because of social distancing rules, they’ve made the most of working with modern technology to still carry out their Royal duties.
