Queen seeking social media guru to promote Royal Family to younger generations

The 93-year-old is keen to keep up with Kate, Prince William, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle whose Instagram pages are followed by millions around the world. Buckingham Palace is recruiting a “head of digital engagement” who has previously managed a social media networks for a high profile organisation and who knows how to “maximise their benefits and minimise any risks”. The ideal candidate will have to be comfortable working in a “fast-paced and deadline-driven environment” and in return enjoy a “comprehensive benefits package, including a 15 percent employer contribution pension scheme, 33 days annual leave” and a free lunch.

The online advertisement says: “It’s knowing your content will be viewed by millions. It’s about never standing still and finding new ways to maintain the Queen’s presence in the public eye and on the world stage.

“This is what makes working for the royal household exceptional.

“The role of Royal Communications is to engage a worldwide audience with the public role and work of the royal family.

“Joining this fast-paced and dynamic team, your challenge will be to lead on and develop our digital communications strategy, and ensure that we make effective use of a range of digital platforms to support these aims.

“You’ll provide digital and editorial leadership to a small team of digital media specialists, drive the content strategy of our digital channels, and work with colleagues across the organisation to continuously improve our digital presence.

“Whether you’re covering a state visit, award ceremony or royal engagement, you’ll make sure our digital channels consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences.”

The ad continued: “With an eye to the future, you’ll work to hone and shape our digital communications through understanding new technologies and stimulating creativity.

“You’ll also inspire progress in your team, sharing best practice and developing their skills alongside your future vision.

“The reaction to our work is always high-profile, and so reputation and impact will be at the forefront of all you do.

“And having your work shared around the world will be the biggest reward.”

Prince Harry and Meghan have raised their profile through their Instagram page, SussexRoyal.

The pair have been known to post positive and uplifting messages for their 9.9 million followers encouraging them to do a good deed every day.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also use the page as a platform to promote their charity work at home and overseas.

Meghan, 38, was an active poster on Instagram before she married into the Royal Family, often giving people a glimpse into her former life in Toronto.

Earlier this week it emerged that hundreds of royal fans who visited the palace have left scathing reviews on TripAdvisor.

Tourists blasted the Queen’s residence for being overcrowded and accused some staff members of being rude.
